The 2025 Amputee Symposium took place on October 2nd and 3rd at the Hilton Garden Inn in Perrysburg, Ohio inside the beautiful Levis Commons Shopping Center and was a tremendous success! Over 150 attendees joined us including Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physicians, Prosthetists, Exhibitors, Nurses, and amputee patients for two inspiring days of education, collaboration, and innovation in amputation surgeries, prosthetic technology and rehabilitative care. Rehabilitation Overview in the Treatment of Upper Limb Loss

Occupational Therapists and Nurses experienced an engaging, hands-on course that explored the full continuum of care for individuals with upper limb loss, partial hand amputations, and limb differences. Attendees discovered the latest advancements in upper limb and partial hand prosthetic technologies, while learning how to identify ideal candidates for each device type. The session emphasized functional training and real-world application, empowering clinicians to help patients achieve greater independence and improved quality of life.

We were grateful to witness a powerful presentation on surgical advancements led by guest speaker Dr. Jason M. Souza, MD, FACS, a leading expert in limb reconstruction and osseointegration for amputees, shared groundbreaking research and clinical experience. As Director of the Orthoplastic Reconstruction and Advanced Amputation Program at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Dr. Souza specializes in osseointegration, targeted muscle reinnervation (TMR), and complex extremity reconstruction—advancing prosthetic integration and improving patient outcomes.
